Himesh Mistry

Qualifications

  • GOsC Registered Osteopath
  • M. Ost. Med
  • Diploma in Naturopathy
  • Certificate in Medical Acupuncture

The Person:

When I’m not in clinic, I enjoy playing a wide variety of sports; however, my heart has been in athletics from a very young age. The event that I excelled at most was sprinting – mainly 100 and 200 meters – and by the age of 15, I achieved three gold medals in one tournament. At present, I do not sprint for tournaments, but like to keep fit. I spend a lot of time in the gym to keep in shape and also believe this will be an advantage to my understanding of the body. This is the reason why I really enjoy learning about the biomechanics of the body and its ability to heal sports injuries after treatment. I am extremely honoured to be part of the Perfect Balance team.

The Therapist:

Himesh graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) with a Masters in Osteopathy and a Diploma in Naturopathy.

Himesh is an enthusiastic and determined Osteopath who always seeks to improve upon his skills gained at BCOM. He has incorporated a structural and functional approach with rehabilitation exercises and his ambition is to learn a wide range of other skills, techniques and treatments, which will add to the effectiveness of his treatments.

In his final year at BCOM, he volunteered to perform sports massage on the marathon runners for Bliss charity, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Himesh is a keen athlete and sportsman in a variety of sports, such as athletics, football and basketball. He loves to keep fit by attending the gym and finds that it enables him to understand the body a lot more in terms of movement and exercise prescription.

Whilst working out in the gym and considering his previous sports injuries, Himesh found Osteopathy to help in many ways. This made him look at the body more holistically as a practitioner and helped him to apply the principles of Osteopathy to each individual patient. He believes this helps the patient to recover from sports injuries quicker, with the addition of a balanced diet.

Carly Yates

Qualifications

  • B. Ost. Med
  • GOsC Registered Osteopath

The Person:

'When I am not working as an Osteopath, I enjoy keeping fit; I am a big advocate of group exercise classes, my latest interest being Zumba fitness. I am also a keen gardener and can be regularly seen offering the other allotment holders advice on how to prevent the dreaded post-gardening aches and pains!

In the final year of my degree, I specialised in the management of pregnant women, as well as cranial and visceral osteopathy. Together with my structural approach and sports injuries qualification, I feel I am well equipped to manage the wide variety of problems my clients present with.'

The Therapist:

Carly works as an Osteopath at our Hatfield clinic. She graduated from The British School of Osteopathy with a Master of Osteopathy degree. During Carly’s training, she worked within the pregnancy and children’s clinics, and decided to specialise in the management of pregnant women in her final year. She also enjoys working with children, and uses a combination of both cranial and gentle structural approaches as appropriate.

Prior to osteopathy, Carly worked in an administrative role within the NHS. Whilst working for a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, she became interested in human anatomy. At the same time, she was suffering from occupational-related back pain, which was successfully treated with osteopathy. This led her to pursue a career in osteopathy and she now has a great appreciation for the strain a sedentary desk job can put upon the human body.

A friendly and approachable professional, Carly believes the key to being a good practitioner is the ability to explain the cause of a client’s problem to them, combined with offering lifestyle and exercise advice to empower her clients to get back to their daily activities quickly.
