The Person:
'Outside of work, I have always been a keen sportswoman. I love keeping fit, whether it be going to the gym, or playing team sports. I captained the Hertfordshire Lacrosse Team, went on to represent Oxford Brookes University 1st Team, and still play lacrosse for a local club, which I love.
'Having represented the district playing netball, captaining my School Athletics Team, and completing my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, I have a good understanding of the importance of treatment and rehabilitation.
'I also love travelling the world, and recently spent two months in South East Asia and India.'
The Therapist:
Sophie graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree in 2010. She has experience in a variety of NHS placements, including General Medical, Amputees, Orthopaedics, Neuroscience and Neurosurgery.
Sophie has been a voluntary physiotherapist at The Children’s Centre and at a Special Needs School in St Albans, treating children between the ages of 6 months and 19 years with mild and severe learning difficulties. She loved this experience, and found it truly rewarding.
Sophie spent five months working as a Physiotherapist and Sports Massage Therapist in the snowy Portes Des Soleil in Switzerland. She treated acute ski injuries, pre-existing niggles, and provided sports massage to relax tired muscles after a long day on the slopes!
Sophie has undertaken postgraduate training in Sports Massage and completed the APPI Pilates Matwork 1 course and Pilates for Skiiers course.
Sophie is a Physiotherapist for the Old Albanians rugby team in St Albans, providing pitch-side and clinic-based treatments for players at all levels, thus enhancing her interest in the treatment of acute sports injuries.
Sophie is passionate about people being able to perform at their best in all areas of life. Whether it be on the pitch, aiming towards a personal best, or simply being able to walk the dog without pain or discomfort!
She strives to motivate her clients by combining functional and specific rehabilitation and exercise prescription, enabling them to achieve their individual goals. She uses treatments such as manual therapy, advice and education, exercise prescription, soft tissue massage and mobilisation.
