We are proud to announce our December client of the month as SHAUN STAFFORD, the World Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (WBFF) World Fitness Champion!
Shaun Stafford competed in this year’s World Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation World Championships and was crowned world champion at the event. Here is an interview with Shaun, where you can read about his motivation, his diet, and his advice to anyone who wants to emulate him!
How did you get into bodybuilding?
I got into weightlifting to get stronger and bigger to play competitive rugby! I ended up loving the gym as much as I loved the game, so when I retired, I decided to combine both the competitive nature of sport with the gym and so took up natural bodybuilding.
How do you stay motivated?
I get asked this a lot, and I always answer the same way: I actually just love to train! If I don’t have time to lift, I make time, it,s so ingrained in my life, I can’t imagine not doing it! I run in offseason, just because I enjoy it. I only rest because science has proven it is better for you, if I had it my way, I would train all the time! Motivation has never been an issue for me, and I hope it remains that way!
What is your diet like?
Diet is pretty clean: I eat a lot of meats, fish, seeds, eggs, vegetables and grains/legumes! I am of the grazing – not fasting – mould, so eat every 2 to 4 hours. I try to avoid sugars, and drink loads of water! I have had some great results using carb cycling, so I often use this for a few weeks before a competition or shoot to really dry out!
What advice do you have for anyone who wants to get into bodybuilding?
Bodybuilding is a great sport if you like discipline and pushing yourself to the limit to see what you are made of it’s the wrong sport if you are just concerned with vanity and ego as you’ll never get out of it what you want! It allows you to grow in more than just a physical sense, and the bodybuilding community is filled with some of the smartest, most informed, and genuine people you can hope to meet!
