About Claire Chaplin

I have always loved sport and exercise and I have participated in many sports and had injuries myself. Studying through University I loved learning about the body and how to get the best sporting performance.

This lead me to complete a degree in Physiotherapy, as I have a particular interest in injury prevention and rehabilitation from every day aches and pains to sporting injuries.

Qualifications

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science

Past experience / employment

After qualification in 2010, I worked with a number of local sports teams including, football and rugby teams. For 5 years I enjoyed working in the NHS, I completed hospital rotations, working on the orthopaedic ward, care of the elderly, paediatrics, learning disability and community physiotherapy as well as musculoskeletal out patients. This has given me an in-depth understanding of other medical issues that sometimes limit recovery or that means rehabilitation needs to be adapted to each individual.

Over the last 5 years I have specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and have gained experience treating a variety of issues from postural, muscle imbalances to injuries from the acute to chronic stages.

Other treatments within physiotherapy which I use is muscle rehabilitation, strengthening, stretching, proprioception training, one to one APPI Pilates exercises, manual therapy, ultra sound, taping, K-taping, massage, ergonomics assessment, acupuncture and dry needling.

For over 3 years I have taken exercise classes for shoulder and back rehabilitation and osteoarthritis groups with great feedback.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. I regularly attend evening lectures and courses to make sure my current practice and skills are up to date and evidence based.

I have experience with working with clients who have suffered from persistent or recurrent pain. I have a special interest in musculoskeletal issues and injuries of all levels, injury prevention and rehabilitation back to an active lifestyle. I believe in an holistic approach to recovery, incorporating the mind and body and other professionals if required to get the best results for the client.

Some of my personal interests are sports, animals and going to music festivals and concerts.

“Claire was excellent. Listened to my problem and after a deep tissue massage and taping she got me to the start of the half marathon raring to go. And my Achilles gave me no problem throughout. Would definitely recommend.”

Darren Readings

Claire has been great, has been really helpful in keeping me injury free so not only can I get back on the tennis court but get back to playing at 100% after tearing my hamstring, Just the other week I managed to cover 40 miles in one week just playing tennis! Claire has given me sports massages and various exercises to not only strengthen the hamstring but also strengthen the muscles around them to prevent further injuries. Claire is really friendly, easy to talk to and is excellent in explaining what I need to do to prevent any further problems.
