Emma Mizzi
I have experience working in both an NHS and private clinic, being exposed to a wide range of patients, from elderly, to office workers and through to athletes. Successfully managing a range of musculoskeletal conditions, from sporting injuries to pregnancy related complaints. I have a keen interest in exercise rehabilitation and have completed my pilates matwork training. I use these skills in clinical practise to assist my patients recovery with pilates based stretching and strengthening exercises, aiming to maintain spinal health, improve mobility and core strength.
My interest in the functioning of the human body comes from many years participating in dance and having to deal with my own injuries along the way. This led me to complete a four year Masters degree in Osteopathy, which has deepened my understanding of the human body, the reasons behind dysfunction and its ability to adapt and self-heal. I have an empathic nature and genuine desire to help my patients get long term results and reach their goals. I stress the importance of identifying the cause of pain, educating my patients in understanding their injury and encouraging them to take an active role in their recovery.
My interest in movement and exercise rehabilitation led me to complete my APPI pilates matwork teacher training. Allowing me to work with clients in a clinical setting, offering small groups or one on one sessions. My experience as an osteopath influences my approach to pilates teaching, enabling me to draw on my in-depth knowledge and understanding of the body, and tailor my teaching to help with specific injury rehabilitation and prevention.
I am particularly interested in helping individuals manage their pain or recover from an injury through movement and exercise rehabilitation. Each session is catered to individual needs, allowing each client to own their recovery and understand how to manage the healing process.
Pilates exercises incorporate stabilisation training, addressing deep stability muscles within the body, helping to improve posture, strength, flexibility, balance and control. Each exercise is able to be modified in difficulty to allow it to be performed from a beginner to more advanced level, with the intensity of the routine increased as the body starts to condition and adapt to the exercise.

I went to the Fulham clinic for a gait analysis to establish why I kept tripping over. I saw Jamie and he established that I had restricted movement in my left hip. He referred me to Emma the Osteopath for treatment. Her treatments and exercises have significantly improved the mobility of my hip and I am now much more confident when walking. I have seen a number of Osteopaths over the years and Emma is excellent. Her whole demeanour fills me with confidence. I am also impressed by the fact that Jamie is monitoring the improvements in conjunction with Emma providing a more holistic approach to my issues. I am really pleased that I chose to go to the Perfect Balance clinic
