About Iona Brodie

I have always been passionate about sport from a young age, since I joined the athletics team at the age of 8. After competing for Scotland on several occasions, I understood the importance of rehabilitation and injury management following personal injuries that required sports therapy treatment. This inspired me to complete my masters degree in Sport Rehabilitation to help others return to sport pain-free and achieve their goals.

Past experience / employment

After graduating from my undergraduate degree in 2016 in Aberdeen, I moved down to London to complete my masters degree in Sport Rehabilitation at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. Over the last 2 years I have worked with a number of sports teams while I studied for my masters. I travelled with the St Mary’s University endurance athletes to Font Romeu in France, where I carried out massage for three weeks to assist with their altitude training ahead of their summer track seasons. I currently work as a sports therapist for Bracknell and Wimbledon Rugby Clubs in both the clinic and on pitch side. My role involves player assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, with pre-game massage and taping provided on match days. I have also provided massage therapy at events such as the London Marathon and the Moonwalk London.

Working with sports teams has allowed me to expand my knowledge of musculoskeletal injuries and the importance of rehabilitation to allow them to successfully return to their sport. I have treated individuals from different levels of sporting background, from a Sunday kick about in the park to semi-professional players. I am aware of the importance of sport and physical activity to everyday living, so I will work to create an individualised treatment plan for your specific sporting needs, whether this is from a treatment of injury or performance maintenance perspective.

My love for sport started at the age of 8 when I joined the athletics team. I have competed for Scotland on a number of occasions in both the 800m and cross country. Other interests include tetrathlons which involves running, swimming, horse riding and shooting.

IONA IS THE BEST Since I was experiencing neck and shoulder stiffness, headache and dizziness from working on the computer and holding the baby, I couldn’t sleep. However, after the first 30-minute session with Iona in Hatfield Clinic, I noticed an improvement. Iona’s instructions for a home takeaway massage, explaining how I can do exercise for my neck and shoulders while I am sitting and studying also helped me a lot. I had another 30-minute session after a week, and I felt much better. I was able to sleep with no pain. I was able to focus on work with no pain and have a better quality of life compared to before the sessions, when I was in pain or discomfort all the time. A few weeks later, I started to feel some stiffness after exam week as I was studying 12 hours daily,so I went to her last week and had a one-hour back and neck massage to prevent the pain and sleepless nights I had before. I felt great and I really recommend Iona. Her service is worth every penny
