About James McDermott

James McDermott completed his Physiotherapy degree in 2012 from St George’s University Hospital. James has gained a wealth of experience working within the NHS, private and sports sector.

With a passion for all sports, James has a particular interest in sports related injuries which has led him to gain experience with Charlton Athletic Football Academy. Additionally, James has regularly attended various sporting events offering his skills in preventative and acute management both pitch-side and within clinics.

Past experience / employment

James’ experience allows him to treat a wide range of clients including those suffering from acute complaints to the more complex post-operative conditions in addition to the amateur/high level athlete. James encompasses a patient-focussed approach to treatment and utilises his skills in manual therapy to a high standard and promotes Pilates and exercise prescription to his clients.

James commits his spare time to his climbing and mountaineering training and has ascended a variety of mountains throughout the Alps. This allows James to be fully aware of the dedication needed to achieve personal goals; the frustrations of injuries affecting such achievements and therefore the importance of preventative rehabilitation.

“James has been brilliant. He sure knows his stuff, spent time assessing my injury, diagnosing it and we are now a few weeks into solving it. My previous physio (not PB) wasn’t as good and had misdiagnosed me. And: Went to James McDermott following a sports injury. I had been to another physio and felt that the diagnosis was wrong and the pain was getting worse. James spent a large part of our first session diagnosing me and quickly accessed the problem. We are now a couple of weeks into treatment and I am seeing improvements. I would highly recommend.”

Lee Jackson

” I was impressed and thought the service was excellent. James, the physio, really listened to me and took the trouble to understand what the problem was.”
