Sports Rehabilitation

Louis Allan

Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion for movement. This developed over the years and manifested in the practise of parkour. As my practise developed I started coaching and sharing my experience with others. I quickly found that I enjoyed this just as much as my actual training. This developed further by my being surrounded by people from all walks of life getting injured (myself included). My passion for movement and coaching led to my passion for helping others recover from injuries that prevented them from living fully.

This path naturally developed into achieving my Sports Rehabilitation degree. During my studies I quickly found that there was so much more to helping people recover from injuries than just the physical treatment they received. This led to my current area of continued education which includes aspects of psychology and mindfulness. These areas complement standard treatment and fit into a more holistic model of care.

I have been coaching movement for the past 12 years. This has given my a strong foundation for analysing biomechanics and the way the body moves.
In graduating from St Mary’s University with a First Class Bsc in Sport Rehabilitation I was able to attain a deeper knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and its healing processes. This, coupled with the practical experience of working in clinics across London and Athens, has given me valuable insight into the process of taking patients from injury to recovery. I get great satisfaction helping return my clients to their previous level of activity, and even surpassing it.

I gained experience using different treatment modalities including taping, PNF, MET, ultrasound, TeCAR, low-level laser, interferential and massage therapies. I readily use these treatment methods and favour movement and exercise prescription, as it has often been found that the more active a role patients take in their recovery, the more lasting their results.
