Physiotherapy at our St Albans Clinic

Instead of focusing on a single source of pain, our physiotherapy team looks at the bigger picture. They analyse exactly how an injury impacts your overall movement and map out precisely what needs to change.

By combining hands-on treatment to ease immediate irritation with structured, exercise-based rehabilitation, we give you the tools to take control of your health.

Our location within a Fitness First gym provides the perfect setting to transition safely from pain relief into a structured program focused on lasting strength and mobility.

Osteopathy

At Perfect Balance Clinic, our osteopathy services are rooted in understanding the complex mechanics of how your musculoskeletal system adapts to stress and injury.

Our registered osteopaths conduct thorough physical evaluations to isolate the biomechanical restrictions driving your pain or stiffness.

By integrating hands-on clinical treatments with a broader, multidisciplinary care strategy, we address both sudden acute issues and gradual chronic conditions at their source.

This comprehensive methodology ensures optimal joint function and supports long-term physical resilience.

Sports Massage

Our sports therapy and sports massage services provide a powerful combination to relieve muscle pain, speed up recovery, and prevent future injuries.

From sudden training setbacks to the stubborn shoulder tension caused by long office hours, we focus on long-term physical resilience rather than short-term fixes.

Let us help you ease your aches, restore your natural mobility, and build a stronger, more capable body for your workouts and your daily routine.

What to expect

From your very first session, you’ll be in expert hands. We don’t do cookie-cutter treatments. We listen, assess, and create a plan that works for you, with hands-on therapy, real accountability, and full-body results that last.
Conditions we can help you with:

Arm pain

Arm pain, stiffness, and weakness can disrupt everything from your workouts to your working day. Whether your symptoms are long-standing or completely new, our clinical approach is built on three pillars:

  • Interconnected Assessment: We analyze the neck, shoulder, elbow, and wrist together, as arm pain is often referred from one area to another.

  • Root-Cause Diagnosis: Pinpointing whether your pain is driven by repetitive desk strain, postural shifts, or an acute injury.

  • Long-Term Rehabilitation: Designing a bespoke care plan that resolves immediate inflammation while rebuilding structural strength.

Back and spine pain

When your back hurts, your entire life slows down. From struggling through a workout to losing focus during a long working day, back pain can take a heavy toll. Our specialists look deep into the underlying mechanics of your pain; whether it’s a stubborn bout of sciatica, joint stiffness, muscle spasms, or disc-related irritation. By mapping out exactly how your spine adapts and moves, we create a clear, actionable path to relieve your discomfort, and significantly reduce the chances of the pain ever coming back.

Foot and ankle pain

Your feet are your body's foundation, and foot and ankle pain can force the rest of your body to alter how it moves to compensate. That’s why it’s important to catch an issue early and resolve it effectively. With foot and ankle pain, we look at the bigger picture. We combine targeted hands-on treatment with detailed movement assessments, and progressive rehabilitation. This whole-body approach is designed to restore natural function, alleviate your discomfort, and minimize ongoing physical strain.

Hip pain

Whether a stubborn ache is keeping you from your weekend runs, making gym workouts uncomfortable, or causing deep stiffness after a long day at your desk, hip pain can heavily restrict your lifestyle. The hip is a central pivot point for the body, that’s why our clinicians assess your hips, pelvis, and lumbar spine as a connected unit. We trace your symptoms back to their source and create a bespoke recovery plan focused on building strength and mobility, so you can return to the activities you love with complete confidence.

Knee pain

From hitting a personal best in your training to simply enjoying a walk without an underlying ache, healthy knees are vital for your freedom of movement. If you are suffering from knee pain, it can feel like your life has been put on hold. Our specialist team looks closely at your strength and biomechanics to uncover the real cause of your joint irritation. We partner with you to build long-term stability, protect your knees, and future-proof your active lifestyle.

Shoulder pain

Shoulder joint pain often involves complex biomechanical compensation across the entire upper body. Shoulder issues are often exacerbated by poor stability and posture too. At Perfect Balance Clinic, our diagnostic approach evaluates the mechanics of the shoulder, neck, and spine to get to the root of the problem. We then implement targeted rehabilitation plans designed to optimise joint mobility and achieve long-term functional recovery.

Sports injuries

A setback on the pitch, track, or in the gym rarely stops at the site of the injury itself. When muscle strains, tendon issues, or running injuries strike, your entire body shifts how it moves to compensate (which can cause further problems). When treating an injury, we look at the complete picture of your athletic profile, analysing your training volume and biomechanics alongside your recovery needs. We build a personalised, rehabilitation plan designed to get you pain-free, restore your competitive edge, and enable you to perform with confidence.

Overall health diagnostics and strengthening

Long-term muscle pain and constant tiredness usually mean your whole body is overloaded, rather than just suffering from a single injury. If you keep getting hurt, feel nagging aches, or notice your performance dropping, your body is struggling to handle your daily routine and needs better recovery. Our clinic fixes this by looking at your entire body. We combine full movement checks, proven rehab, and targeted strength training to fix how you move and build a stronger, healthier body for the long run.

What people say about us...

I’ve been seeing Rachel for years for different injuries. She has always been amazing. Very knowledgeable, professional, caring and effective. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Becky Hartley , St Albans, Hertfordshire

I couldn’t have got through the last 6 months and the rehabilitation post surgery without the help from Rachel. So professional and humane that not only gets you physically better but also gets you through the process mentally. I cannot sing her praises high enough.

Paul Foley , St Albans, Hertfordshire

Over the years Sophie helped me with a hamstring tear, tight hip flexors and most recently plantar fascitus. All nipped in the bud after only a few sessions. She also helped a family member with a torn miniscus. 100% recommend!
