Simon Coope
Simon Coope is a highly experienced Musculoskeletal (MSK) Podiatrist and Biomechanics Specialist with over 30 years of clinical practice. His extensive career spans the NHS, private hospitals, elite sports settings, and legal expert witness work. Simon brings a deep understanding of foot and lower limb biomechanics and a strong commitment to evidence-based care.
Simon has worked across a variety of clinical environments, including:
- NHS Podiatric Surgery (Doncaster & Mexborough), working alongside Mr Antony Wilkinson of Coriel Orthopaedics
- Biomechanics and Gait Analysis Clinics with RDaSH and York NHS Trusts
- Nuffield Health, mentored by Mr Andrew Horwood, co-author of Clinical Biomechanics in Human Locomotion
- BUPA, Classic, and Spire Private Hospitals
He also works onsite with Premier League football and Rugby League teams, collaborating closely with Health & Science staff. In addition, Simon supports local athletes across a broad range of sports, from recreational runners to those in more niche disciplines.
In 2003, Simon was commissioned by the Home Office to produce an audit on the benefits of podiatric biomechanical assessment and preventative treatment for police recruits, aiming to reduce work-related injuries.

Simon specialises in:
- Lower limb biomechanics and orthotic therapy
- Sports injury prevention and rehabilitation
- Gait analysis
- Complex musculoskeletal presentations
He has a particular interest in auto-immune and connective tissue disorders affecting the lower limb, including:
- Inflammatory joint disease
- Podo-paediatrics
- Fibromyalgia
- Hypermobility Syndrome
- Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
Simon also delivers training for GPs and healthcare professionals and has lectured at the University of Bath’s Primary Care Rheumatology Course on Biomechanics of the Rheumatoid Foot.
Medico-Legal Work
Simon provides Civil Expert Witness reports in cases involving:
- Clinical negligence
- Work-related injury
- Personal injury
- Orthotic-related claims
He is trained in report writing and quantum assessment for lower limb cases.

Simon does not affiliate with or support any particular sports team to maintain impartiality, but he enjoys following the performance and progress of the athletes he treats.
He welcomes both self-funding and medically insured patients, provided podiatry and gait analysis are covered by their policy.
