What is K-Laser Therapy?

We are Proud to be one of the first few clinics in the whole of the United Kingdom and Europe to have access to the Class 4 K-Laser (Low Level Laser Therapy). Our practitioners are professionally trained in the use of this most advanced system for healing.

K Laser Therapy, or “photobiomodulation”, is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near-infrared) to create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling. K Laser Therapy has been widely utilised in Europe by physical therapists, nurses and doctors as far back as the 1970’s.

With the availability of new machines, we are able to better the results that we have previously seen. Our laser is more advanced than many competitors lasers as it uses the highest grade of laser which means less treatment times and reduced expense for treating long term chronic pain and tissue damage. Our therapists are experienced practitioners of K-Laser and are registered to use this highly advanced therapy.

During each painless treatment laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved. During K Laser Therapy the infrared laser light interacts with tissues at the cellular level and metabolic activity increases within the cell, improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane. This initiates the production of cellular energy (ATP) that leads to a cascade of beneficial effects, increasing cellular function and health.

Reduce Chronic Pain with Laser Therapy

Are you one of the 50% of the UK population who suffer from Chronic Pain? To make it much more specific, and quite frankly, worrying, that’s just under 28 million adults based on data from the best available published stories. Also, with the aging population rising, this figure is very likely to increase. Could your children be next in line?

There are twelve studies across the Internet which demonstrate a chronic pain trend towards increasing prevalence with increasing age from 14.3% in 18-25 years old, to 62% in the over 75 age group. However, the prevalence of chronic pain in young people (18-39 year-olds) may be as high as 30%.

In our latest article, our specialists summarise their latest understanding of how Low Level Laser Therapy can help with those with chronic pain to ensure they are chronic pain-free as quickly as possible.

Benefits of Laser Therapy

Low Level Laser Therapy (K-laser) is one of the most technologically advanced forms of medical treatment for pain free pain relief. It has actually been around for 30 years but has only just been made accessible for private practices. There is lots of evidence and clinical trials which have shown the effectiveness of laser therapy for pain relief and treatment of other conditions. Laser Therapy can provide dramatic results, is non-addictive and virtually free of side effects.

K-Laser Therapy is often used with other forms of therapy, including physiotherapy, osteopathy, sports massage, soft tissue mobilisation, electrotherapy and even following surgery. Other healing modalities are complementary and can be used with k laser to increase the effectiveness of the treatment.

We have been getting especially good results conditions such as; Nerve pain, Back pain, Achilles tendon injuries, Arthritis related pain, Slowly Healing Bone Fractures, Joint Stiffness, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Finger Pain, Toe Pain, Post Surgery wound healing, Scar tissue formation, Hamstring tendonosis, Hamstring tears and Calf Muscle tears.

Is Laser Therapy right for you?

We are highly ethical practitioners and will make sure that the K-laser is the best choice of treatment for you, this is important to us. It is un-deniable that laser treatment can get amazing results but we must make sure that you are right for the treatment in the first place. Our experienced team have a good idea of what will and what won’t respond to the K-Laser therapy and by speaking to us first we can make sure that you are suitable before you come in.

The K-laser does not grow limbs back or cure cancer. Everyone coming for treatment is realistic about what it can do. We make sure they are informed about their choice of treatment.

How long does it take to get results from Laser Therapy?

You may feel improvement in your condition (usually pain reduction) after the very first treatment. Sometimes you will not feel an improvement until after a number of treatments. This does not mean that nothing is happening. Each treatment is cumulative and results are often felt after 3 or 4 sessions.

We have to say this, but in reality most people detect a notable difference after the first 2 sessions in symptoms they may have been been experiencing for years prior to treatment.

How long does each treatment take?

The typical treatment is 3 to 9 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. It may not sound like a long time but thats the beauty of the Laser that we use. There are cheaper lasers on the market which often take longer with treatment times. K-laser has been shown to produce significantly greater results in the same time as a less powerful, less advanced laser.

Little and often is the key to advanced tissue healing. Most people that we see have difficult problems to treat and have tried other therapists without much success.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For some acute conditions 1 to 6 treatments may be sufficient. Those of a more chronic nature may require 10 to 15 (or more) treatments. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control pain.

Acute conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. More chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2 to 3 times a week, tapering to once a week or once every other week, with improvement.
