Osteoporosis is a disease characterised by brittle bones, causing an increased risk of fractures and having a huge impact on the quality of the lives of people diagnosed with it. It is often associated with aging, however a compromised bone health can have its origin at a young age, due to inappropriate lifestyle choices. Very often, because of its ‘silent nature’, it goes unnoticed until the first osteoporotic fracture occurs, by which time it’s often too late to repair the damage already done. Changes in nutrition and exercise are KEY to managing and reversing (type 2) diabetes and most importantly improving the day to day quality of life of those dealing with it. Physical activity done at the correct volume and intensity, has proven incredibly beneficial in weight management, which is key to combating the damaging effects of diabetesIt increases the amount of glucose used by the muscles for energy, contributing to lower blood glucose levels. Exercise also helps your body use insulin more efficiently, which as a result can help you reduce the amount of insulin you have to take. It will strengthen your bones, improve your mental wellbeing and help to lower your stress levels. At PB Wellbeing we work closely with our Nutrition Therapists, in order to ensure your nutrition is optimised and promotes better health. We want you to not only feel better, but to feel your all-time best!
