PHYSIOTHERAPIST & SPORTS MESSAGE THERAPIST
Coming from an elite sport background (middle-distance running), having competed for Great Britain from youth to senior level, I have had my share of sporting injuries. I know first-hand how stressful it can be to have pain prevent you from exercising or even affecting your daily life, and the knock-on effect this can have psychologically. This is why my priority as your therapist is to provide a personalised, evidence-based treatment plan to bring you back to your normal function.
I qualified as a Sport Massage Therapist in 2016 while completing my Sport and Exercise Health Science BSc degree at Loughborough University. I have just finished studying a degree in Physiotherapy at Brunel University. I believe it is paramount to provide a comprehensive assessment taking into consideration your goals to provide a specific treatment plan that evolves as you progress.
During my time as a student at Loughborough I had the opportunity to treat elite track and field athletes, some that have competed for Great Britain.
After my time at Loughborough I went on to study Physiotherapy at Brunel University where I have just qualified. During my time at Brunel I completed 6-week placements throughout the NHS, including time on an Orthopaedic ward treating patients immediately post total knee and total hip replacements, and a placement in an MSK outpatients clinic where I treated patients with a vast range of conditions from frozen shoulder to Achilles tendinopathy.
Alongside my studying at Brunel University I have had the opportunity to provide Sports massage for Lindt during their health and well-being week, and provide free sports massage for runners raising money for charity in the London Marathon and the Hillingdon Half Marathon.

Assessment and treatment of running injuries
I found James to be polite, friendly and very knowledgeable. He put me at ease and was professional, chatty and helpful. He took the time to listen to my injury problems and show me stretches and suggest other exercise ideas to take away with me.
A really great experience from James McMurray. I started to experience problems with my back, largely due to working from home 5 days a week. James addressed the problem and has given me much more flexibility and comfort.
James McMurray has been astounding in his assistance with some on going muscle tightness as well as sciatica issues. During the lockdown period, sitting at a desk continuously started to impact both my upper and lower body. I went to see James and within 3 sessions, I had gone from 7/10 pain and discomfort to virtually 0. His approach was friendly, consultative and methodical. I have been going to James thereafter every few weeks for tune up sessions and this is helping me both in the gym as well as day to day when working from home. I would highly recommend James if you are looking to address muscular pain/tightness!
I’ve been seeing James to help with a running problem. He has been great, he has not only sorted my problem out and given me exercises to help improve, but has helped me with a recent back problem to get me to the start line of an upcoming race. James is very friendly, incredibly knowledgable and I can’t recommend him highly enough.
I have had several excellent massages with James. His confident hands and calm manner put me at ease as he finds the knots and works them away. James is a great addition to the Perfect Balance team.
