About Tom Glindon

Tom has always had an interest in the human body and how it moves. Coupled with a seemingly innate desire to help people in pain the perfect solution as a career aspiration was for Tom to become an Osteopath.

Having played rugby at younger ages for 12 years with Old Albanians in St Albans Tom understands the demands placed on young sports people but also the fundamentals of team sports and competitive environments. The ability to treat an injury by addressing an underlying cause that may not be at the site of problem is what Tom believes is the greatest strength of an Osteopath. Priding himself on this aspect Tom aims to help get clients understand their injury and be pain free quickly.

Past experience / employment

Tom’s professional experience ranges from treating masters age level sprinters to successful local club runners to dramatic lumbar spine disc injuries. He has also spent time observing top knee specialist surgeons in London as well as developing his practical skills and knowledge by attending numerous specialist courses and reading the latest research in the world of Osteopathy. As part of his Masters degree Tom wrote a 20,000 word dissertation on biomechanical factors that affect knee pain In cyclists.

Tom is interested in seeing a whole range of patients from the sports injuries, to elderly, to those who want to get in shape. Mobilisation, massage, muscle energy techniques and manipulation are all techniques that Tom is comfortable applying.

In addition to these techniques Tom also uses kinesiology tape to manage injuries by increasing postural awareness, encourage blood flow to injured areas and inhibit or excite certain muscles.

Tom has experience with working with clients who have suffered from chronic and recurrent pain.

“I saw Tom for a short course of treatments regarding my shoulder. Tom was very professional, really listened to the issues, and provided first class treatment. A massive improvement to my shoulder and neck, I cannot recommend highly enough.”

“I suffered with a slipped disc over 18 months ago and I’ve struggled to get back to full working order. Last month I had a ‘tremor’ which laid me low for 2 days and felt tender thereafter. I saw Tom at PB following a recommendation and he has been great- expert manipulation followed by targeted follow up exercises. Over 4 sessions, I feel Tom has set me on a better path to recovery. Not the cheapest service perhaps, but you get what you pay for- expert care! Fully recommend Tom.”

“Tom has helped to reduce pain in a variety of areas of my body including neck, shoulder, hip and foot. I have found Tom to be very knowledgeable and offered good advice. If it wasn’t for the cost, I would book a session every week to keep my neck/ shoulder mobile due to excessive marking! I highly recommend Tom.”
